Now I’m no knitter but the chance to go and see local artists/crafters at the wonderful Farnham Maltings was enough to entice me to an afternoon of woolly fun!

It’s a chance for people to take part in workshops, see demonstrations, hear talks from experts and be inspired by artists in the gallery area. They also had a ‘marketplace’ where you could purchase buttons and yarns and kits.

The first stand as you walk in to the main hall had the most amazing collection of buttons I have ever seen! So I grabbed a pot and picked a few that I absolutely couldn’t live without…not sure what I will do with them but they are so lovely I just couldn’t leave them behind! I also got myself a starter kit for felt making. I did a course last year but haven’t managed to get around the getting the bits and pieces I need to continue with projects at home so this was the perfect place. I got everything I need to make a collection of furry friends for the princely sum of £7.20! The lady gave me a refresher demo and was super helpful and knowledgeable.

There was so much to see and do so next year we will aim to get there much earlier and with a couple of specific projects in mind to buy for…the selection of hand dyed wool is fabulous but you need a have a pattern so you know how much wool you need…it’s not cheap but for a really special project it would be worth it. Personally my favourite stand was the felted animals by a lady called Jenny Barnet, simply adorable.

So those of you who went -what was your favourite bit?
