DIYs and Inspiration

Hello!

Apologies for the little break from blogging, my online shop has taken priority over the last few weeks and I’ve been sewing up a storm…nearly there!

My sewing passion is at an all time high at the moment and I’m feeling particularly inspired by one lady in particular: Geneva of ‘a pair and a spare‘. Check out her blog for some awesome DIY inspiration and beautiful pics. She also has a book out which is fantastic and has really motivated me to start making myself some clothes/customising some outfits and thinking about how I can re-create catwalk looks at home. I really want to edit down my wardrobe as I feel my style is a bit all over the place at the moment, the weather isn’t helping admittedly… There are a few things I’ve been thinking about making for a while now:

Chanel inspired little jacket. I want to do an embellished version with some neon thrown in for good measure! Got some lovely woolly fabric from Fabric Land in Basingstoke (black and white fabric shown below with the yellow skirt fabric next to it). Sew on gems on their way via ebay!

A drop waist dress (not sure if this style will actually suit me so it might be up for sale if not!) Orla Kiely do a gorgeous one with pockets. I have a vintage pattern that looks like it will fit the bill nicely and some black crepe that I’ve had for about 7 years…oops! Might also embellish this one around the neckline.

Yellow pencil skirt. I’ve still got some stretch cotton left over from my degree collection (11/12 years old!) I already have the denim polka dot shirt pictured but hadn’t thought about teaming it with yellow until I saw this pic on Pinterest…love it.

Collarless coat (having trouble finding fabric I like for this one). Would like something light coloured like the Yellow Zara one below…

I’ve also made myself a dress for my lovely friend Lainey’s wedding next week with some curtain fabric (sounds hideous but it works – promise!) and Buttons from this month’s Mollie Makes mag (total cost of dress about ¬£25!) and a summer dress for a friend’s daughter using pattern New Look 6504 which is super quick and satisfying! I added a little pocket to the front to make it even sweeter and the fabric was again from Fabric Land and buttons from Mollie Makes (not sure which issue, but a few ago).

My projects

I’ve also just purchased a Colette pattern for the first time. I need more separates (scary how many dresses I own) so I need some lovely little blouses and this one looks really pretty. Am yet to find fabric for this…another trip to fabric land probably in order!

Anyone else made any of the Colette patterns? The shorts look great as does the Beignet skirt.

I counted my dresses before Ali came to look for one, somehow I have 57, 57! that seems a little excessive yes? The dresses both look really good, I have those buttons too!

Yes, it does seem to be a problem of mine, they are just easier to throw on and you don’t have to think about what to wear with them…other than shoes…and there lies another problem!!
