Craft a week challenge -Week 5

Like lots of little girls, my daughter is rather fond of princesses… Disney princesses to be specific!

She has been wearing her Rapunzel dress (“Miz’punzel”) for about 3 weeks non-stop now and it’s one of those that can’t go in the wash because of it’s glittery front, so I thought it was about time I put my skills and abundant fabric stash to good use and made her a new dress.

I used ‘McCall’s Costumes’ pattern M6141 as a base but changed it a little. I omitted the lining (not necessary for play dress-up in my opinion… life is just too short for that!), serged all the inner seams to keep it neat and just stuck to a simple puff sleeve, albeit with ribbon embellishment! I also inserted a zipper instead of faffing with lacing/eyelets. I’m really pleased with this project and am already planning the next version (probably with a chiffon overlay and long sleeves) It was a really quick make and one you can have great fun with in terms of finishes and trims etc, great way of using up all those pretty bits you buy without a project in mind!!

So that is week 5 and my favourite make to date! What have you been up to lately? Please share with us!
